Start with the area, not the product
Most questions about skincare sticks come down to where the stick will go. A stick is a targeted format: a concentrated layer on the jawline, the neck, the lines around the mouth, or a dry patch, rather than a thin layer over the whole face. Pick the area first, then the active ingredient that suits it.
- Jawline, neck and smile lines: firming peptides such as Matrixyl 3000 and GHK-Cu, used daily for 8 to 12 weeks.
- Neck and chest: a light, fragrance-free finish, plus daily sunscreen.
- Dry patches: a richer, balm-like finish, with a second swipe where needed.
Balm finish or serum finish
“Balm stick” and “serum stick” describe the finish, not the strength. A balm finish is richer and seals moisture in, so it goes last. A serum finish is lighter and settles quickly, so it layers under moisturizer, sunscreen and makeup. The ingredient list decides what the stick does; the finish decides where it sits in your routine.
Layering without pilling
Pilling, those little rolls of product, almost always comes from one of three things: too much product, layering before the previous step has set, or rubbing instead of pressing. Wait a minute after serum, use one or two thin swipes, and press the product in. If you wear makeup, give it another minute before foundation.
The order that works
Cleanse, serum (if you use one), skincare stick, moisturizer, then sunscreen in the morning. Thinnest to thickest, with a short pause between.
The routine you’ll actually keep
Firming peptides need 8 to 12 weeks of daily use before you can judge them, and most people quit a new step within a month. That’s the real case for a stick: it takes seconds, needs no dropper or jar, and lives wherever you’ll see it. A step you do every day beats a better one you abandon.
Where our stick fits
The Collagen + Copper Stick is being developed for the jawline, neck, cheeks and smile lines, with Matrixyl 3000, GHK-Cu and collagen peptides in a clear, fragrance-free base designed to sit between a balm and a serum. The formula is still being finalized, and we’ll publish full layering guidance before it ships in January 2027. Preorders are refundable until then.
